An open letter from CEO David Matluck

Simply put, Costa Rica is a special place. My adoration for the small Central American nation started a little more than 30 years ago when I journeyed there for the first time. And since that first visit it has been fascinating to see just how much the country has developed and grown, surpassing other Latin American countries.

When my colleagues and I first started looking at Costa Rica from an emerging market perspective, we did so only with the prospect of doing business there and nothing more. But then something magical happened. As we stepped foot on the location that would eventually become known as Hacienda Matapalo, we had an epiphany. The scenery was so magnificent, the ocean views so striking, yet so serene, the mountains and rainforest so vibrant and pristine, this was where we wanted to live! I can tell you without hesitation that when construction at Hacienda Matapalo is complete, this is where I will call home.

It's no surprise to learn that our story of awe is no different than anyone else who visits the "Rich Coast." But even though we found the location to be intoxicating and unlike anything we've evaluated before or since, we had to be absolutely certain everything about the location was in order. So, we turned over every stone and looked under every rock; we did our due diligence.

We forged strategic partnerships and built binding relationships with the most knowledgeable individuals and reputable firms throughout the country. Experts in every field necessary for us to accomplish the undertaking we were about to embark on would now have a strategic stake in our success.

Because of our location, our unique indoor/outdoor Polynesian designs and concepts (that allow one to live in casual elegance), and the fact that we have assembled a fantastic team of passionate, creative professionals (who are not only at the pinnacle of their careers, but who believe that what we are doing together is something special), Hacienda Matapalo has become the best-selling property in Costa Rica in a relatively short period of time. What we do and how we do it has gained us enormous credibility as being the industry leader for setting the standard by which all others hoping to be successful will follow.

With all this in mind, my partners and I believe it's time to reiterate the assurances we have been making to our clients right along as it pertains to our community - after all, you are not only our clients, but more importantly, you just might be our future neighbors.
  • Consumer Advocacy - We know the importance of quality and that is why we have engaged the top firms to represent our interests when it comes to both the infrastructure and the building out of the development. Only the highest quality supplies will be used during the construction phase of Hacienda Matapalo as it protects our interests as much as our clients.
  • Credibility - As I briefly explained above, we have done our homework and as such we can make assurances that all of the legal, environmental and engineering issues pertaining to Hacienda Matapalo have been thoroughly researched and determined to be in order.
  • Community Involvement - Since starting the Hacienda Matapalo project, we have been committed to serving the community we are part of. We have sponsored local youth programs, helped institute a beach lifeguard program, initiated a recycling program, assisted with wildlife initiatives such as saving turtles, and have even underwritten the water infrastructure upgrade for the local town of Hatillo.   • Security and Safety - Many years ago I held a board of directors position with a personal protection and security company, so I have firsthand knowledge about the importance of security and safety concerns. There is one other item of note that is part of our re-dedication to these commitments . . . and it is one exclusive service that I believe once again raises the bar to set us apart from the rest of the pack.

Every client who makes a commitment to purchase at Hacienda Matapalo will be assigned a Personal Relocation Specialist. This PRS will be a relocation expert who will assist our buyers with every aspect of relocating to Costa Rica, taking out both the stress and guesswork that frequently accompanies a move of this type. It will be the goal of the PRS to help make the move to Hacienda Matapalo a seamless and easy one for the buyer.
